Community Workshops...

One thing that we believe passionately at Read Dance & Theatre is that performing arts should be open and accesible to everyone.

That is why we offer our services to run workshops at schools, clubs, community events and organisations in any aspect of dance, singing or acting that is of interest.

Our teachers are not just experienced in mainstream commercial settings - we also have a wealth of experience in working with students in LEA settings and also with special educational needs, and our Director of Dance is a qualified community dance workshop leader.

Our recent community work:

Read Dance & Theatre are pleased to be working with Reading Borough Council's Sport Reading Intiative to deliver Street Jazz classes to young people through their schools and youth clubs in the Reading Borough.

Over the last year, Read Dance & Theatre has lead several themed days of dance and drama at local primary schools in support of the arts within the curriculum.

"2Gether" for West Berkshire Council - Jamie Read, our Director of Theatre, project managed and delivered this large scale inclusion singing project on behalf of WBC, working with over 200 young people from local mainstream and SEN schools to stage a massed singing concert.

"Anjali Dance Company" run one of the only accredited qualifications for young people with disabilities in dance . Helen Read, our Director of Dance, choreographed and taught for them at The Mill arts centre in Banbury.
